DIM SIMs

March 1, 2025 | Spotlight

No, not the snack, but a wonderful way to understand and explore what hinders us and what helps us.

Coined by the team at The Noi Group, Butler and Moseley through their work on The Protectometer (designed to address physical pain), this approach can be used for both physical and emotional needs.  DIM SIMs refers to Danger in Me and Safety in Me considerations.

By working through senses, activities, places, people and actions you can really get an understanding of what is helpful and what you may need to avoid and/or have additional strategies for.  Get coloured post it notes, cardboard, a white board or even the notes pages on your phone and try working through your DIM SIMs.

Give it a try and/or let’s discuss in session.

If you would like to explore The Protectometer further or the work of the Noi group, you can refer to their website here. https://www.noigroup.com/noijam/dim-sims/
